It strikes me as a very typical, done a million times before, coming of age teenage comedy. Even the characters are typical with the skinny, somewhat awkward, main character accompanied by his fat, funny, lovable sidekick. It does, however, look very watchable and is guaranteed to have a good soundtrack following along with the recent 80′s revival. I mean, come on, the name of the thing is “Take Me Home Tonight,” which is easily one of the greatest songs ever written by one of the most talented musicians of all time, yes I am referring to Mr. Eddy Money. Throw in the old school glass Pepsi bottle and it looks like one big roller coaster of 80′s fun. I have to say though that the most exciting part of the movie was seeing Demitri Martin pop up, I love that guy. I remember seeing his stand up for the first time and nearly wetting myself from laughing so hard. However he is pretty dry humor, so I don’t know how well that will mix with the dry personality of Topher Grace. I can’t say that I’m excited about this movie, but I’m sure I will see it at some stage and get a few cheap laughs out of it, but overall I’d say its pretty forgettable.
Slated to hit the theaters on March 4th this year, Take Me Home Tonight is a retro comedy that comes straight from the desk of the writers of ‘That ‘70s Show’. Formerly titled ‘Kids in America’, the movie tells the tale of Matt Franklin (Topher Grace) who, in a bid to impress the girl of his dreams, lies to her about his job. Too embarrassed to speak out the truth about his underpaying job at the local video store, Matt instead feigns being a valuable employee of a huge American conglomerate. As the lie builds up, Matt finds the whole situation too difficult to handle. Even though the lie bridges the gap between Matt and his dream girl, his battle with the truth takes a different turn and he eventually finds himself standing on the crossroads, completely lost. The entire action is set in 1988 and Take Me Home Tonight video reveals that the film also stars Anna Faris, who plays Matt’s twin sister, and Dan Fogler as his best friend, both of whom are equally uncertain about their respective lives.

The film is all about the adventures of twins Matt Franklin and Wendy together with friend Barry Nathan thinking about what shall they do for their lives. Matt pursues his dream girl Tori Fredreking at a Wild Labor Day party in 1988 by telling her about where he was work.
There are many funny scenes that can really catch our attention and makes us laugh even we are sad. There is a saying says “Laugher is the Best Medicine”. To make us laugh this March, we shall not miss to watch Take Me Home Tonight film for 2011. The film is really address to those who having problem. It’s really funny one that’s why I will watch it also together with friends and family.
I like the look and feel of this movie. Some of it may have to do with the story being set in the 1980s, but the actors in it look very different from other places that I’ve seen them. Topher Grace, playing what seems to be the main character Matthew, has a new haircut that makes him look grown up instead of goofy. He also looks a little worn down by life; this may be intentional. There is also a girl who I think is Anna Faris, looking a little different with brown hair but basically playing the same sort of fun-loving girl that she’s been in other movies. And then there is Tori, a possible love interest for Matthew, who looks like a blond Kristen Stewart and may even be portrayed by that actress. If it is her, then it was a great choice.
In Tori’s few appearances, there always seems to be more going on behind the eyes; she is not just a pretty face. The schlubby sidekick seems to be staple of male-bonding movies these days, but in Take Me Home Tonight, the guy pal doesn’t look that bad, but that may be because the guys cleaned themselves up and put on suits for the big party. The plot also seems promising: it’s not just about a party but about the characters’ life choices, particularly a revelation the main character (Matthew, played by Grace) may have about his own life. So there is fun and glamour, but it’s not a completely mindless movie.
This movie doesn’t look all that interesting. Although it doesn’t seem like an awful movie to watch. I would not go to the movies to see it or rent it when it comes out. I would probably wait until a friend brings it over to watch or it was on television or something like that. Maybe if my boyfriend wanted to see it or something I would go. He kind of likes movies like this. I would prefer a suspense or horror film. I am not really into the funny genre. Unless it is a classic comedy or extremely hilarious, I would probably make an exception and watch it.
Recent MIT grad Matt Franklin should be working for a Fortune 500 company and starting his upward climb to full-fledged yuppie-hood. Instead, the directionless 23-year-old confounds family and friends by taking a part-time job behind the counter of a video store at the Sherman Oaks Galleria. But Matt’s silent protest against maturity comes to a screeching halt once his unrequited high school crush, Tori Frederking, walks into the store.
When she invites him to an epic, end-of-summer party, Matt thinks he finally might have a chance with the girl of his dreams. With his cynical twin sister Wendy and best friend Barry, Matt embarks on a once-in-a-lifetime evening. From stealing a car to a marriage proposal to an indescribable, no-holds-barred dance-off, these friends share experiences that will change the course of their lives on one unforgettable night in the Go-Go ’80s.
This particular movie did not strike me as one of those exceptions. Nevertheless I might have to eat my own words because it does have some actors in it that I have like over the years. Topher Grace, I loved as Eric on that 70s’ Show, but every time I end up watching a movie with him in it I hate the movie. He is a great actor, but I prefer not to watch the movies he plays in, (For example Sea Biscuit). I also find it the same with actress Anna Faris. I love and admire her as an actress, just like Topher, but the movie roles that she land usually are not that great. I would like to maybe see them both do a much better movie than House Bunny or Sea Biscuit, seriously. It could be that some actors should just stick to the small screen because their fans identify with them better there. Some people are made for the big screen an some are just not.
